Weekend weather for Scotland as bank holiday 'spring sunshine' on the cards

The May bank holiday arrives this weekend and Scots could end up seeing some pretty warm and sunny weather - which will be welcome news for many people.
The Met Office has issued a new update about what the weather could be like during the course of the bank holiday weekend, and while certain UK areas will be more unsettled, Scotland may end up avoiding the worst of some potential rainy spells.
This is due to an area of low pressure that's expected to move across the UK, bringing unpredictable conditions. However, it's not yet known how far this will travel north, as it's expected to hit the south of England the hardest.
Scotland, on the other hand, is expected to stay 'largely dry' over the course of the weekend - which is good news if you've got any exciting bank holiday plans.
The Met Office says there will be 'plenty of sunshine' here, specifically on the west coast, and temperatures there will peak in the low 20s. Meanwhile, onshore winds will peg temperatures back along North Sea coasts.
It comes after a very warm couple of days for much of Scotland, with Thursday May 2 even being the warmest day of the year so far. Achnagart in the northwest Highlands peaked at 22.1C today, and the conditions this weekend look as though they'll be pleasant too - especially for those in the west.
Met Office meteorologist Alex Deakin spoke in more detail about the weekend weather forecast, explaining that early on Saturday May 4, Scots could see some cloud cover and the occasional spell of light rain, particularly in the south.
