As Mint Field prepare to release their next album, Aprender a Ser, the Tijuana-originated, Mexico City-based band are premiering the video for the record’s third single, “Nuevo Sol,” with The FADER. The song is a psychedelic slow burn that finds frontwoman Estrella del Sol singing in wispy, enthralling tones over her own flickering guitar line and Sebastian Neyra’s deliberately plotted rhythm section.
“Quiero ser energía de la luz,” she sings near the end of the track, sounding very much like the “energy of light” she hopes to become. According to the band, it’s a song about “about the need of light in our lives, but primarily the physical need of light in our bodies.” The video for “Nuevo Sol,” directed by Arlene Müller, sets the track to a fluid montage in which Estrella lays in bed under colorful lights, dresses in front of a full-length mirror, wanders through fields and forests, and meets up with Sebastian, falling into his arms in the clip’s final moments.

The somewhat scattered run of 11 shows starts this month in Mérida and finishes in December with a performance at Wilco’s Sky Blue Sky Festival, followed by two more shows opening for Wilco in Mexico City and Guadalajara. Aprender a Ser is due out October 27 via felte.
