Ireland’s screen industry is having a moment. With the Cannes Film Festival well underway, there’s a notable strong Irish presence in this year’s line-up including Element Pictures’ three entrants – Competition title Kinds of Kindness from Yorgos Lanthimos, Rungano Nyoni’s sophomore feature On Becoming A Guinea Fowl and Ariane Labed’s directorial debut September Says (both in Un Certain Regard). There’s also Competition title The Apprentice, which is co-produced with Irish outfit Tailored Films and Lorcan Finnegan’s Nicolas Cage starrer The Surfer premiering in the Midnight Screenings strand. Even Andrea Arnold’s Competition title Bird is rich with Irish talent with star Barry Keoghan and Oscar-nominated cinematographer Robbie Ryan both having worked on the film. 

Billie Eilish showcased tracks from her forthcoming new album ‘Hit Me Hard And Soft’ in New York last night (May 15).The singer-songwriter hosted a listening party at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn ahead of her third LP’s release tomorrow May 17 (pre-order/pre-save here).Ahead of the show she posted on her Instagram story: “Ur gonna hear my album omg i’m so excited and nervous oh my godddddddd.”As she prepared to launch into the record she said to the audience: “I could shit myself right now! AC/DC have shared a photo of their new line-up ahead of their first tour in eight years.The current incarnation of the legendary Australian rock band features classic members Brian Johnson (vocals) and Angus Young on vocals and lead guitar respectively alongside rhythm guitarist Stevie Young, drummer Matt Laug, and bassist Chris Chaney.Stevie Young is the nephew of Angus and has been playing with the band for several years, initially filling in for Malcolm Young when he was diagnosed with dementia. After he passed away in 2017, Stevie remained with the band.Laug, meanwhile, made his debut with AC/DC at Power Trip festival in Indio, California back in October after classic drummer Phil Rudd revealed he would not be performing at what was the band’s first live show in seven years.Chaney is best known for his time playing in Jane’s Addiction and recently replaced Cliff Williams after he retired from touring.Johnson is returning to the fold after leaving the band in 2016 due to hearing issues, which saw him replaced by Axl Rose.A post shared by AC/DC (@acdc)The ‘Power Up‘ tour – in support of their 2020 album of the same name – will kick off in the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen, Germany on May 17, followed by dates in Spain, Austria, Switzerland and more.The run also includes two dates at London’s Wembley Stadium on July 3 and 7, before they continue on to more mainland Europe dates.

During the set, the pair treated fans in attendance to an unreleased track, ‘The Craving’, which is due to feature on their upcoming album ‘Clancy’.Titled ‘The Craving (Jenna’s Version)’, the song was written for singer Tyler Joseph’s wife.
