As Deadline exclusively told you would happen last night, UTA has brought aboard longtime WME partner Brandon Liebman to be a partner and film talent agent. Here is the release:

Patrick Frater Asia Bureau Chief Netflix has come on board for the second year to support the Short Film Camp, a film industry training program for professionals from Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar. The SFC is led by Purin Pictures, a film funding body backed by the Purin Foundation. The event, running for ten days (Dec. 2-12, 2022) in Bangkok, Thailand, will involve 12 teams of directors and producers. The 24 participants will receive mentoring that aims to hone their writing, producing and directing skills. The workshop culminates in a live pitch of their short film projects, where four winners will receive funding and post-production support to produce their short films.

Personality Crisis: One Night Only, directed by Martin Scorsese and David Tedeschi, is a documentary that follows punk pioneer David Johansen, which premiered at NYFF60. The film follows Johansen, who, during his residency in New York City in 2020, gave a detailed account of his life, how he navigated the music scene from the 1970s up to the present day, and why music is integral to his existence. 

In one of the first such cases of its kind, a court in Singapore sentenced adult content creator Titus Low Kaide to three weeks imprisonment and a fine of $3,000 over his OnlyFans account. A local court convicted him of charges of transmitting obscene materials online and breaching a police order not to access his OnlyFans account. The Strait Times reported that Low pleaded guilty to both charges. Following his sentencing, Low took to social media to address his fans. He said that he will start his prison sentence in a few weeks, but he “was glad the case was over” as it was taking a toll on his mental health. In another Instagram story, he posted from an event: “Enjoying my time outside first”.

Patrick Frater Asia Bureau Chief International streaming company Netflix has unveiled six new titles representing its first wide-ranging slate of content from Thailand. Its four films and two series span the comedy, suspense and comedy drama genres and hail from six different local production firms – GMM Studios, International, GDH, Song Sound Productions, Transformation Films, 18 Tanwa and Jungka Bangkok. Significantly, too, they are sourced from established directors or producers. Writer-director Prueksa Amaruji’s dark comedy film “Lost Lotteries” is produced by Ekachai Uekrongtham (“Beautiful Boxer,” “Pleasure Factory”) and will stream from mid-November.

Brent Lang Executive Editor 101 Studios has made a series of key executive hires. Eliot Goldberg has joined as the company’s head of unscripted and documentary programming, while Ellie Duque has been tapped as exec VP of brand partnerships. Both executives will work out of the company’s Beverly Hills office. Joanna Balin has been tapped as director of unscripted and documentary programming, with Brannan Goetschius named as head of audio. Both executives will become part of 101 Studios’ New York team. They join Dani Weinstein, who was announced as the new chief communications officer in July. “We are thrilled to welcome these very accomplished, well-respected executives into our 101 Studios Family. We are always looking for ways to expand our reach and expertise and we are lucky to have Dani, Eliot, Ellie, Joanna and Brannan join our ranks,” said 101 Studios CEO David Glasser

Parents collapsed into tears and in a faint on the grounds of a temple in northeastern Thailand on Friday after they were reunited with their slain children. The bodies of the victims were brought to various temples where they were identified by their parents.

A mass shooting at a daycare center in northeast Thailand Thursday afternoon left more than 30 people dead, including children, police said.  The gunman, believed to be a former police officer, took his own life, police said.  The deaths include at least 23 children, two teachers and a police officer.  (AP) The shooting happened in the province of Nongbua Lamphu.  Mass shootings are rare in Thailand but in 2020, 29 people were killed in a shooting spree by a disgruntled soldier.  This is a breaking story.
