Greater Manchester is set to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in style with hundreds of street parties being held across the city region. Patriotic residents have submitted a deluge of applications for road-closure street parties, with more than 70 lined up for just Manchester itself.
Not to be outdone, the rest of the conurbation is also doing its bit to mark the milestone anniversary. For example, Bolton has a whopping 125 shindigs penciled in, Stockport isn't far behind with nearly 90 events and there are more than 70 parties taking place in Oldham.
The festivities, in honour of Queen Elizabeth II’s 70 years on the throne, will take place from Thursday June 2 through to Sunday, June 5. Road closure applications are required so that authorities including bus companies and emergency services know which streets are likely to be blocked or hard to navigate, and that residents avoid potential safety issues.
