Franz Ferdinand‘s Alex Kapranos has shared details of a new six-part radio series.In August, Kapranos will join Absolute Radio to host a new series that will run every Sunday night at 10pm from August 7. Following more than three decades of research and design, a pill which promises to cure hangovers will go on sale in the UK. The pill was initially invented in 1990 by scientist Johan de Faire, and claims to rapidly break down alcohol.
Now rebranded as Myrkl, the pill will be available in the UK with a £30 price tag set for a pack of 30. Those who take two pills between one and 12 hours before drinking will break down 70 per cent of the alcohol that they consumed after 60 minutes, according to a study in the journal Nutrition and Metabolic Insights.
The supplement has been independently clinically tested and also claims to boost energy levels thanks to vitamin B12. The pill is 100 per cent natural & vegan, according to Myrkl, who have also said that all ingredients are authorised and recognised as safe by the European Food Safety Agency (EFSA).
The company has clarified that is not encouraging users to drink more, and the tablet should not become a reason to do so, saying: “MYRKL helps breaking down alcohol fast before it reaches the liver, it is not suited and aimed to alleviate the impact of excess alcohol consumption.
“MYRKL must never be an excuse to drink more alcohol and you should always limit your alcohol consumption within the government guidelines.”
The NHS recommends adults drink no more than 14 units of alcohol per week, spread across three or more days. This equates to six medium glasses of wine or six pints of beer.
NHS GP and TV doctor Dawn Harper mirrored this view in a YouTube video, saying: "“To be clear, this is not a product for people that want to get drunk. Taking Myrkl prior to alcohol consumption will make getting drunk much more expensive and will take significantly longer.
