A tight-knit community has been left reeling following a man's death - and the arrest of a woman on suspicion of his murder. The 27-year-old was pronounced dead at a house on Kensington Street, in Rochdale, following a police call-out at around 2.10pm on Friday (July 21).
The suspect, whose age has not been released, was arrested at the scene. Officers taped off a number of houses on the street while crime scene investigators searched the area.
There were tears on the street as news of the man's death spread among neighbours and loved ones. A number of people were gathered on either side of the cordon for several hours while police carried out their work.

Residents along Kensington Street told the Manchester Evening News they heard a helicopter above the area, before police swarmed the street. One resident said: "My partner heard some screaming, he's gone over to help.
"It's shocking, really shocking. It's actually pretty scary."
Another neighbour added: "I just can't believe it - the poor lad. It's just unbelievable. I stood there and cried as soon as I found out."
Officers appeared to be focusing their investigations at two properties inside the cordon. Ambulance vehicles were also pictured at the scene this afternoon.
Officers stood guard into the evening as neighbours came to terms with the tragedy on their doorstep. "Enquiries are ongoing at this stage and a scene will remain in place while officers conduct further enquiries," Greater Manchester Police said in a statement.
Scores of people on Facebook reacted to the tragedy. "When is this all going to end?," Lynn Johnson said.
"RIP, thinking of his loved ones," Biana Baiton added. No
