Strictly Come Dancing star Craig Revel Horwood has revealed that he has undergone surgery for a 'nasty' injury on his foot.
The 59 year old Strictly judge shared that he underwent the surgery to have his toes 'flattened' as he blamed the injury on ‘wearing high heels all my life’. During an appearance on Ireland’s Late Late Show on Friday, 26 April, he told host Patrick Kielty about the injury before showing off the orthopaedic shoes he now has to wear.
He showed them off by lifting up his flared trousers and putting his feet on the host’s desk, as Craig labelled his footwear ‘hideous’. "It is a dance injury," Craig explained.
"My little toes got all squashed up and I had a procedure to flatten them out." "It is for dancing as I was getting terrible wounds from these nasty bunions, dear." He continued: "Now I have to wear these cool shoes. I mean, they are pretty hideous, aren’t they? They are not a fashion statement although some people do think they are.
"Now I have teamed them with a flared trouser, but I still can’t walk in them properly.
This is why I had this done five weeks ago so I can slip my beautiful little new toes into a nice pair of stilettos to play the Wicked Witch." Craig then shared that his foot specialist was surprised he could walk, given the condition of his feet. "But I’m a professional dancer, and we are used to being in continuous pain," he said.
"Basically, I had worn out both hip joints from dancing and ballet, and it was made worse by the fact that I have arthritis. My mother suffers from rheumatoid arthritis, but I have osteoarthritis." Craig, who is currently starring in the Wizard Of Oz tour, recently posted a sweet photo to Instagram as he celebrated the 40th birthday of 2021 contestant Sara
