Sydney Cole is alleged to have left Lance Corporal Sarah Garrity, from Irvine, in intensive care after losing four pints of blood and needing 14 stitches to a neck wound.
Spanish state prosecutors are seeking a three-year prison sentence over the April 15 2019 incident.
Cole, 23, was arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide and remanded in prison in Majorca briefly before being released pending an ongoing investigation.
On Saturday, respected island newspaper Ultima Hora said Cole, who was based at Fort George Barracks in Inverness when she was arrested, had been accused of a crime of wounding in an indictment submitted to a court in Palma and was facing a three-year prison sentence if convicted at trial.
Prosecutors in the Majorcan capital drafted their indictment despite Sarah, 26, telling Spanish authorities early on in the investigation she didn’t want to press charges and renouncing her right to compensation. The trial date has not yet been made public but it is expected to take place before the end of the year.
The latest development in the long-running case comes 18 months after it emerged a Palma court had issued an international arrest warrant for Cole following failed attempts to inform her she was wanted for a new quiz under oath.
Judicial sources at the time said her indictment over the attack was “just a question of time” and explained the Palma judge who issued the warrant had decided to take action after she breached bail conditions by changing address without notifying Spanish authorities.
It was not immediately clear on Saturday if the arrest warrant remained in place or Cole had deactivated it by

Todd Longwell From the majestic-but-aged environs inhabited by the British royals Netflix’s in “The Crown” and the decadent sun-drenched luxury of the San Domenico Palace resort in Taormina, Sicily, in HBO’s “The White Lotus” to the foreboding Ontario wilderness where a girls’ soccer team is stranded in Showtime’s “Yellowjackets,” the locations used in this year’s Emmy-nominated dramas loom so large they can be viewed as characters unto themselves that interact with the performers and help shape the narrative. It’s especially true of the role Albuquerque, N.M., plays in AMC’s “Better Call Saul.” There’s no telling if the series would even exist if creator Vince Gilligan had gotten his way back in the mid-2000s and the studio suits at Sony agreed to let him use Riverside, Calif., as the setting for its predecessor “Breaking Bad” (2008-2013), which established the “Saul” characters and their dramatic universe.
