A known sex offender bled to death after his genitalia was cut off in a disused industrial estate, an inquest has heard. Reginald Alan Roach was discovered by a dog walker on Sunday (November 6) in Bangor, NorthWalesLive reports.
The 63-year-old was found 'unresponsive' and had significant 'wounds' to his genitalia, a hearing in Caernarfon was told yesterday (November 11). Kate Sutherland, acting senior coroner for North Wales gave a provisional cause of death as "shock and haemorrhage due to incised wounds removing genitalia," following a post-mortem report by Dr Brian Rodgers.
The inquest was adjourned to a later date while further investigations are conducted. Roughly a week before his death, Roach, of Bangor, appeared at Llandudno Magistrates Court on October 31.
He was brought up on the charge of failing to comply with notification requirements in relation to the sex offenders register at Caernarfon Police Station on September 13, 2022.
In August, Roach admitted to indecent exposure after appearing in a public area of a Travelodge Hotel and asking staff to place a bet for him while naked from the waist down. He had been sent stay at the hotel by the council at the time of the offence.
Roach was handed a 16-week suspended custodial sentence for the crime and ordered to pay £150 of compensation to an employee at the hotel.
He was also made to register as a sex offender.
