A mum has told how she ignored repeated advice by doctors to terminate her pregnancy and instead kept her unborn baby alive by drinking eight pints of water a day.
Little Callan McGerty celebrated his first birthday yesterday after a marathon fight for life.
Diane Macdonald, 38, of Falkirk, was warned her baby would almost certainly die before or at birth after her waters broke 26 weeks early.
She said she was advised at every appointment that followed to terminate the pregnancy, with doctors
