Fans might be enjoying Barb & Star Go to Vista Del Mar, but it won’t be eligible for some big recognition.

Clayton Davis The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has been an organization that has had noteworthy recognitions in its history, especially in the comedy categories (i.e., “The Hangover” winning best picture in 2009) and undoubtedly some questionable judgment calls (i.e., “The Tourist” nominated for best picture in 2010, and even this year with Sia’s directorial debut “Music”).

In perhaps the smartest cost-saving move for a major award show this year but the worst technically, the 2021 SAG Awards nominations were announced by actors Daveed Diggs and Lily Collins via the ceremony’s official Instagram page. After a delay for Diggs to find Collins in the actual Instagram Live stream, the nominees were finally unveiled.

While a number of films and performers that received fewer than expected Golden Globe Awards nominations earned more love from SAG-AFTRA with the announcement of the 2021 SAG Awards nominations, other Hollywood Foreign Press favorites were less celebrated by the actors union, and a handful of film and TV titles didn't fare well with either group.

While Trial of the Chicago 7 and Da 5 Bloods, in a comeback after being surprisingly shut out by the Golden Globes, earned three nods a piece from SAG-AFTRA as well, one of those nominations was in the stunt performers category.

The attention, of course, is usually on the sheer volume and weight of Netflix, the deep pockets of Amazon, the IP gold mine of Disney Plus or even the strategies behind the new kids on the block, be it HBO Max, Apple TV Plus, Peacock or the upcoming Paramount Plus rebrand.But there’s at least one space that is far from ignoring Hulu: The world of awards.

As the awards season rolls around, fortunately, the final nomination lists of several prestigious awards have been released. After the Golden Globes nominations yesterday, now SAG awards has released their list.

The actors are always full of surprises when it comes to the SAG Awards. Sometimes they are good (“Parasite” winning Ensemble last year), sometimes they perplexing (remember when Emily Blunt won for “A Quiet Place” just two years ago?) and often you wonder what they were thinking (remember that “Trumbo” ensemble nomination?).
