A row of shops has been cordoned off after a teenager was stabbed in the back.
Police raced to Great Homer Street in Vauxhall, Liverpool, after the alarm was raised at around 6.15pm on Thursday. Upon arrival officers found a 16-year-old who had been stabbed in the forearm, stomach and back.
As reported by the Echo, the teen was taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening. There were at least six police vehicles at the scene including a van, forensics van and multiple patrol cars.
A cordon was quickly erected covering the pavement in front of Barnardo's, Greggs, a chemist and a charity shop. Forensic officers were at the scene along with detectives, who were seen leaving Greggs shortly before the police cordon was dropped.
A police probe is ongoing and officers will remain in the area to carry out forensic, CCTV, and witness enquiries. The area was busy with people collecting food and visiting the tanning centre, with many stopping to ask police what had happened.
Chief Inspector Phil Cowin said: “Enquiries are in the very early stages to establish what has taken place and the victim’s family have been made aware. There would have been many people around at the time of this incident, and I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at around 6pm onwards and saw what happened to please contact us.
“I would also ask people who were in the area to check dashcam or CCTV footage just in case they may have captured something which may be vital to the case.”
Chief Inspector Cowin added: “Reducing knife crime in Merseyside is a top priority. Our officers are committed in removing anyone who stores, carries and uses weapons. Knife crime can have a devastating impact on people lives.
