Former Manchester United assistant manager Chris Armas has admitted that he has been encouraged by the signings manager Erik ten Hag has made so far this summer, believing he has brought in the right type of characters.
United — who will get their Premier League campaign up and running on Sunday against Brighton — have drafted in three new faces so far this summer, signing Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia and Christian Eriksen.
And while the main aim of Ten Hag's job is to improve results and performances, there is also big pressure on his shoulders to change the culture inside the Old Trafford dressing room. The mentality of the squad was heavily criticised last season, with several players often singled out for strong criticism.

However, Ten Hag has already started to change the landscape of the squad and install a fresh mindset and outlook. And for Armas, who worked at Old Trafford last season as Ralf Rangnick's right-hand man, Ten Hag has made the correct calls in the players he has so far added to the squad, particularly with the addition of Eriksen.
"You can see with guys like Eriksen, these are culture guys that he has brought in," Armas told Sky Sports. "Making big signings is one thing, and you want to get them right, but part of getting it right is bringing in good footballers, but also guys that can affect and influence the locker room, on the pitch and off the pitch — and I think he is doing that.
"It is guys that can actually sway a locker room and lead. I think the challenge for him as that he needs a little bit of time."
