Goal difference will now only come into play if City draw with West Ham and Arsenal beat Everton. That would hand Arsenal the title given their superior goal difference, with the Gunners (+61) already ahead of City (+60).
Of course, if City lose to West Ham and Arsenal beat Everton, the Gunners would lift the title for the first time in 20 years. City's opponents West Ham sit ninth, unable to secure a European spot, while Everton are safe from relegation.
A draw for City versus Spurs would have seen Arsenal lead by a superior goal difference of two. It would have meant the Blues needing to win by three more goals than Arsenal or hoping the Gunners failed to beat Everton while they defeated the Hammers.
City’s win over Tottenham was their first away victory at Spurs in the Premier League since 2021 and stretches their unbeaten run to 34 matches. A 35th will see them over the line for the sixth time in seven seasons.
