Arsenal fans are owed some sympathy in the final week of the Premier League season.
Mikel Arteta has recorded a record number of wins for them in the history of the competition and they have blown away Liverpool in the title race but are still relying on a slip up from Manchester City. It's not just Manchester City they need to slip up, it is Pep Guardiola's Manchester City.
The distinction is important as while many have been late to cotton onto the fact amid the money that has been spent, it is Guardiola that has pushed City to heights that everybody else has struggled to live with. A world-class squad have been built to win trophies and have their own motivations, yet it is their manager who pushes and inspires them to the sort of monster points hauls that have fundamentally changed the Premier League.

The natural question for all to ask, then, is when will Guardiola leave? When will he give everyone else a chance and allow more margin for error to win the league?
As with Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, nobody will really know when Guardiola will leave until the man himself decides and his value is so high that he can decide when he wants. City would love him to sign another extension today, but know not to bother him with such discussions until he is ready to think about it.
That has previously led to Guardiola entering the final year of his contract before deciding - the last two extensions have been around November - but it has also led to him deciding to stay, which is more important than any uncertainty from the absence of a decision before that. Whatever
