Sam Heughan has hinted that his beloved Outlander character could bite the dust sooner than expected.
The Dumfries-born actor, who plays Jamie Fraser on the hit historical fantasy show, is currently filming the new season of Outlander in Scotland after the explosive season six finale. The intense cliff-hanger saw Claire Fraser, played by Caitriona Balfe, wrongly imprisoned for the death of Malva Christie.
Viewers are gearing up to see the continuation of the episode after Jamie raced against time to try and rescue his wife from behind bars. Although Claire proclaimed her innocence, she had been wrongly accused as Malva was found dead in her garden.
Droughtlander is now back in full swing, as viewers patiently wait for the shows return in 2023 to see the real villain exposed. There is a lot of speculation surrounding the future of the beloved series, as Outlander hasn't been renewed for an eighth season yet - leaving fans scared the show will end after the seventh.
In an interview with Gold Derby, Sam opened up on what is in store for his character in the future and hinted death may finally catch up to Jamie Fraser. He revealed: “When I read these scripts and think about it, he keeps talking about it, Jamie and I always feel like he knows.
“He’s not afraid of death and he’s seen it a number of times, most in particularly I think in Culloden, he saw the corridor and whatever is beyond that and he got pulled back. There’s something about Jamie and death, he understands it, he’s lived around it and he’s very much at ease with it. So, therefore, I think he might even see the signs around him where he’s like ‘These things keep happening you know it can’t be much longer.”
