A mobile welfare unit worth tens of thousands has been snatched from a major Ayrshire road.
The 'Garic Armadillo' unit vanished from a layby on the A78 near Irvine at the end of last month.
Cops probing the theft have now appealed to motorists for help, after the unit was stolen between Tuesday, May 30 and Friday, June 2.
Police are asking if anyone noticed anything suspicious over that time frame and are asking drivers to check their dash cam footage.
Ayrshire Live understands that the unit is worth £30,000 and contains a canteen and toilet facilities.
It is now known who the unit belongs to but it is believed that workers would use the welfare hub on breaks.
A stock image of the 'Garic Armadillo' believed to be the one taken has been shared by Police Scotland as part of the appeal.
However it is understood that the one taken is grey and not white as documented in the picture.
The unit also has a distinctive Garic sticker on it's side.
A spokesperson for the force said: "A "Garic Armadillo" Mobile Welfare Unit was taken from a layby on the A78, Irvine, between Tuesday, 30th May 2023 and Friday, 2nd June 2023.
"If you noted anything suspicious or captured dashcam footage of evidential value, please call 101, quoting Crime Report no. UA04470623."
