Mum 'convinced' she was going to die in cow stampede reveals horrifying injuries

A former army officer has told of how she suffered life altering injuries after being caught up in a terrifying cow stampede.
Janicke Tvedt, aged 55, thought that she was going to die in the ordeal whilst she was out walking with her Labrador pooch, who the cows believed was a threat to their calves.
Teesside Live reports that the mum-of-two was left with seven broken ribs, hoof marks across her chest and legs, and she also needed part of her colon removed following the stampede in July 2020.
Janicke came across the seemingly harmless herd of 30 cows whilst out walking with her dog and her partner David Hood in a field in Masham near Harrogate.
However, within minutes, she had been pulled down and pinned against a fence as the animals viciously stamped on her body, leading her stomach to swell up like a "watermelon".
The North Yorkshire woman only managed to escape when her army training kicked in and she went into "survival mode".
But even after being saved by a medical team, shocked Janicke still believed that she was going to die due to the severity of her excruciating injuries.
Janicke said: "I was convinced I was going to die.
“I was trying to get in contact with my son because as far as I was concerned, that was it – I wasn't going to see anyone again.
“Had there been a child or an elderly person there, they would not have survived – that’s how serious the attack was.”
After Janicke followed a farmer's gatepost instruction to keep her dog on a lead, she is urging others in similar situations to herself to let their dogs run free.
She explained: “What you’re supposed to do when you’re under attack by cattle is you’re supposed to let the dog off the lead and kick the dog away.
