Mount Kimbie have announced their new project MK 3.5: Die Cuts | City Planning. The double album is out on November 4 via Warp Records and contains one full-length solo record from each member of the English electronic music duo, Speakerboxxx / The Love Below style.
With today's announcement comes the release of two new songs, “f1 racer” featuring Kučka and produced by MK's Dom Maker as well as “Zone 1 (24 Hours),” produced by Kai Campos. The two new songs don't completely slice the Mount Kimbie sound into two separate sonic entities, but there are some illuminating differences.
"f1 racer" weaves ghostly synths and Kučka's vocals – which strike the same balance of rap and R&B as SZA – into a luxurious tune made for autopilot mode in a hovercraft. For "Zone 1 (24 Hours)," Campos delivers a lively cut of deep techno that pulses with the influence of Actress, the groundbreaking producer Campos recently teamed up with for the single "AZD Surf." "locked in" featuring Houston heavyweight Maxo Kream and Pa Salieu is a non-album cut from Dom Maker's side. A pity, because it's quite a killer track.
It opens with the misty, ominous synths you might expect from a Mica Levi soundtrack before launching into strobing synths and fat 808s that give new color to Maxo's drug raps and Pa Salieu's Afro-drill. Listen to all three tracks below.

About a month ago, Charlamagne the God was publically dragged for questioning Chief Keef‘s influence, absurdly claiming that the Chicago rapper didn’t “change the world.” Those defending Keef’s impossible-to-overstate legacy defended it on Twitter, and even exposed some new wrinkles: Lil Gnar, an artist signed to Keef’s label 43B, tweeted at the time: “im in spain rn n da biggest rappers here told me dey learned english jus to understand what chief keef says.” That’s pretty incredible! If I sound reflective, it’s because this week saw the ninth anniversary of Almighty So, a mixtape from Chief Keef that’s become a significant chapter in his career. So it’s no small thing that his next full-length project is being billed as a sequel.

Ethan Shanfeld As the Arctic Monkeys waltzed onstage at Brooklyn’s Kings Theatre Thursday night, they were met with such rapturous applause and overwhelming screams that when Alex Turner sat at the piano and sang, “Don’t get emotional,” it was as if he was speaking directly to the audience. While the band opened the show with new single “There’d Better Be a Mirrorball,” which came out just a few weeks ago, the crowd embraced it like an old classic. As Turner sang the song’s title for the final time, in falsetto, a giant disco ball lowered from the ceiling and lit up the exuberant Kings Theatre. To be clear: there’s good reason for the Monkeymania. Thursday’s show marked the band’s first headlining concert in the U.S. since 2018, and even though their seminal album “AM” came out nearly a decade ago (feel old?), the Tumblr-era thirst for Turner is still very much alive. The audience erupted in shouts at the frontman’s every move — cheering when he ditched his guitar for “Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High?,” when he hoisted the mic stand above his head during “Arabella” and, of course, when he snarled between songs, “How’s everybody doing,” in a British accent thicker than the bass tone on “Crying Lightning.”
