Manchester United fans are calling for more players to exit the club this summer after it was confirmed 11 of the current squad will be released.
United released their retained list ahead of the 2022/2023 season on Friday as Erik ten Hag continues putting together his plans at Old Trafford. The new Reds boss will face a tough task rebuilding his squad this summer following some high-profile departures.
Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata had their exits confirmed last week, joining Nemanja Matic, Edinson Cavani and veteran goalkeeper Lee Grant in leaving the club. Five more players have now been confirmed to be leaving, with some of the club’s youth team players being released.

D’Mani Mellor, Reece Devine and Connor Stanley have also left the club, while Paul McShane has retired from playing but will continue in his coaching role. Goalkeeper Paul Woolston was forced to retire at just 23 back in March, while Martin Svidersky has rejected a new deal.
Fans though hope the buck doesn’t stop there following what was a disastrous 2021/22 season. Supporters were vocal on social media as they began to name some of the players they want to see following the 11 released players out of the exit door, with the majority calling for more departures this summer.
While no further departures have been confirmed yet, there are a number of players who still face an uncertain future. Ten Hag will no doubt keep himself busy by identifying which of those players he wants to retain for next season, and which he will be happy to offload.
