Meek Mill Stars in Trailer for New Movie Charm City Kings: Watch

A new Kamasi Washington concert film is coming this Thursday. Kamasi Washington Live at the Apollo Theater was filmed last year and will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video. Find a new song called “The Bombshell’s Waltz” from the film below. The film was directed and edited by former Pitchfork contributor Michael Garber. Former contributors Timmhotep Aku, Jon Leone, Jim Larson, and Will Colby also worked on the film.

A gritty coming-of-age drama, Charm City Kings introduces viewers to a dirt bike scene where Baltimore’s young people have honed a sports-like showmanship and sense of community over the last 50 years. Directed by Angel Manuel Soto with a script from Sherman Payne and a story penned by Barry Jenkins, Chris Boyd and Kirk Sullivan, the film is based on the documentary 12 O’Clock Boys from director Lotfy Nathan.

Meek Mill recently partnered with JAY-Z’s Roc Nation for the Philadelphia rapper’s Dream Chasers imprint, and he’s trying to set a better example for how to handle artists' contracts. In a recent tweet, he called out record companies for signing young black artists to “slave contracts,” saying he plans to handle his artists differently:

“Charm City Kings,” directed by Angel Manuel Soto and written by Sherman Payne, is an earnest coming-of-age story about a Baltimore 14-year-old named Mouse (Jahi Di’Allo Winston) torn between joining the Midnight Clique, an extreme dirt bike crime gang in stormtrooper-esque shiny white breastplates, or becoming a veterinarian.

Narcos: Mexico returns for its second season February 13 on a Roman emperor trip. Miguel Félix Gallardo (Diego Luna), the godfather of the Mexican drug trade, has conquered his rivals in Colombia and "united the barbarians" of small, local crews into the Guadalajara cartel, which makes him Julius Caesar. But we all remember what happened to Julius Caesar. This story has no happy ending. Probably not even for El Padrino's pet tiger. (Especially not even for El Padrino's pet tiger?)

One of the most moving moments of a largely subdued Grammys came during the Nipsey Hussle tribute featuring Meek Mill, DJ Khaled, John Legend, and more. Meek Mill has now gone one step further, recruiting Roddy Ricch for new song "Letter to Nipsey." Atlantic Records has confirmed that all proceeds will benefit Nipsey Hussle’s family.

Today in news that no one was expecting, Nicki Minaj and her got into a screaming match with Nicki's ex-boyfriend Meek Mill after running into him at a store in West Hollywood yesterday. Truly, what?

In 2017, Meek Mill was sued by three different parties over a shooting that happened at a December 2016 concert at the Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford, Connecticut. One man, Dylan Thomas, was shot in the leg and sued the rapper as well as Live Nation and the concert venue for damages. That case was dropped last year.
