Video being shared on social media shows the moment gangs of youths clashed at Manchester's Arndale shopping centre just before closing time. It shows teenagers fighting and hurling missiles before security and police officers stepped in.
As others filmed the scrap and appeared to take delight in the confrontation, one gang is captured running into the shopping centre while others are detained at the exit of the complex.
A spokesman for Manchester Arndale - which has struggled to cope with youth violence before - said no police action was taken against those who were detained at the scene, following the incident on Tuesday evening, May 7. Greater Manchester Police said one person was hurt and an investigation is underway.

One clip shared on Instagram showed gangs of boys running towards the exit, while the person taking the clip can be heard giggling in delight at the unfolding violence. Youths are captured picking up sandwich boards before hurling them towards their rivals, as a security follow but appear powerless to stop the trouble. Mountain bikes can be seen strewn across the floor of the shopping centre.
Then two boys, one of them masked, are seen to come together and trade blows while a third youth hurls a missile. Another video shows the youths who was trading punches then running away towards the exit where he tries to escape the clutches of security guards.
Another security guard then mocks the teen, saying 'police behind you mate' and then 'f*** off' as he shoves the lad towards the exit. The youth and the security guards are then involved in a physical confrontation close to the exit before a police officer arrives
