A 21-year-old man tragically drowned in a hot tub at a popular glamping site. Jae Williams was found dead by friends while on holiday at the Florence Springs Glamping and Camping in Tenby.
An inquest into his death, held on Tuesday, heard that Mr Williams had taken a cocktail of drugs before being discovered in the tub on 23 January, 2022. Coroner’s officer James Lang told the hearing that from the age of 14, Mr Williams had had regularly taken prescription medication such as Valium and diazepam before becoming heavily involved in drugs.
As reported by Wales Online, he explained: “Drugs were a big part of his life and he had some mental health issues."
Mr Lang said that Mr Williams had further spiralled after the death of his grandmother and had a difficult upbringing. At one point, people that he allegedly owed money were said to have carried out attacks on his relatives’ properties.
He spent time in prison and following his release last year, Mr Williams spent time living on the streets. In the summer of 2021, he moved into council-provided accommodation in New Tredegar.
The court heard how Mr William's family was trying to move on from his troubled past and was making positive changes to improve his life. But earlier this year, the night after he arrived at Florence Springs Glamping and Camping for a holiday with friends, emergency services attended the site after receiving reports that Mr Williams had drowned in a hot tub.
He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene just after midnight. A post-mortem examination conducted at Morriston Hospital on January 27 by Dr Maurizio Brotto advised Mr Williams’ medical cause of death as 1A: poisoning and 1B: combination of cocaine and fluvoxamine toxicity.

Terence Winter knows a thing or two about depicting the underworld. He served as an executive producer on both The Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire before Taylor Sheridan called upon him to tell a fish-out-of-water tale about New York mafia capo Dwight “The General” Manfredi in Tulsa King, dropping Nov. 13 on Paramount+. Here, the veteran writer-producer talks about the drama’s beginnings, avoiding mob stereotypes, and working with Sylvester Stallone.
