Jimmy Eat World have shared their new single ‘Place Your Debts’ – you can listen to the track below.Self-produced by the band, the song follows on from the four-piece’s June single ‘Something Loud’ and its subsequent acoustic rearrangement, which arrived in September.‘Place Your Debts’ was written by Jimmy Eat World in collaboration with Clark Baechle (The Faint) and Denver Dalley (Desaparecidos). “The ‘debt’ you rack up is the time you spend avoiding doing the work to know yourself,” frontman Jim Adkins explained in a statement.“You buy an ending every time you start something, and the cost is determined by how closely you pay attention to your personal condition,” he added.A video for ‘Place Your Debts’, which you can watch below, has also arrived today (October 19).Directed by and starring Adkins, the clip was filmed throughout the UK, US and Europe during the band’s recent tour.“It’s a series of many, many edits of me singing to the camera,” the frontman explained.

Car Seat Headrest has announced that he’s cancelled his upcoming US tour and performances at the When We Were Young festival due to health issues.The band, fronted by Will Toledo, were set to begin a tour tomorrow (October 20) in Pioneertown, California which was set to run for the next week and incorporate three sets at Las Vegas’ When We Were Young.Taking to Twitter, Toledo revealed that ongoing health issues have forced the cancellation of the tour. He wrote: “After another month of struggling to regain my health, I am currently forced to face the fact that my body lacks the basic levels of functionality necessary to leave the house most days, let alone embark on a tour.“As a result, we are unfortunately forced to pull out of the When We Were Young festival dates, and cancel our upcoming California tour.

A South Carolina man almost lost out on $300,000 after forgetting he purchased a scratch-off lottery ticket during a quick trip to a gas station. The man, who wished to remain anonymous but is from the Midlands area, drove around with the winning ticket for two days before remembering he had bought it, according to the South Carolina Education Lottery. "I threw the ticket in the car’s console and forgot about it," the man told lottery officials.

Bruce Springsteen has released ‘Nightshift’, a cover of the Commodores original, lifted from the singer’s forthcoming album.‘Nightshift’ first appeared on the tracklist of Commodores’ titular 1985 album, and was written as a tribute to Marvin Gaye and Jackie Wilson (both of whom died the year prior). For his part, Springsteen stays true to the original, carrying the soulful tune atop a supporting band of brass, strings and backing vocalists.The track is accompanied by a music video directed by longtime Springsteen collaborator Thom Zimny.

A column in The Washington Post claimed voters concerned about violent crime should move to blue states, because "living in a Republican state is much more likely to get you killed." Columnist Dana Milbank attempted to debunk GOP messaging on crime this election by arguing that crime wasn't soaring but actually declining, and claiming it was higher in red states.  The columnist also suggested the Republican focus on crime was racist and "paranoid." "If it’s the fall of a year ending in an even number, you can be pretty sure Republicans will try to scare you with paranoia about crime — specifically, violent crime committed by dark-skinned people," he began. A South Carolina man was arrested on Monday, accused of murdering three family members, including a local councilman, authorities said.  Matthew Allen Dewitt, 25, remained in custody at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on Tuesday following the deaths of Natasha Stevens, 52, in Conway, South Carolina and James DeWitt II, 52 and Gloria DeWitt, 52, outside of Columbia, South Carolina, the Horry County Police Department said on social media.
