Line of Duty's Anna Maxwell Martin has played many award-winning roles

Line of Duty, BBC’s Bleak House, and ITV’s Hollington Drive. In recent years she played a leading role in Motherland, a Netflix sitcom with three series. The actress lives in Hertfordshire and has two daughters Maggie and Nancy.
She split with her ex-husband, the late Roger Michell, in 2020 after 16 years of marriage to the TV and film director. Anna grew up in Beverley, East Yorkshire, and describes her childhood as "very loving". She began her acting career at the London Academy Of Dramatic art at the age of 20.

She was nominated for an Olivier Award for the performance. After numerous starring roles in the theatre, Anna moved onto our television screens.
She made a number of guest appearances in hit shows including Midsomer Murders and Doctor Who - acting alongside Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper in 2005. Anna then secured the role of Esther Summerson in Bleak House, a popular TV mini-series in 2005. She then went on to play a string of roles in period and historical dramas including Death Comes to Pemberley and The Bletchley Circle.
For the big screen, Anna has played a number of roles in films. These include The Duke, Becoming Jane, I Really Hate My Job, and Chubby Funny. Anna is the latest celebrity to trace their family history in BBC’s Who Do You Think You Are? Airing on BBC One at 9pm on Thursday, June 23.
