Deborah James is facing the unimaginable after entering hospice care during the end stages of a brave battle with stage four bowel cancer. Yet in typical fashion, rather than feeling sorry for herself the 40-year-old BBC podcast host and writer has secured her legacy by using her final days to launch an unprecedented fundraiser. Since revealing her sad health update on Monday the mum-of-two has raised more than £2.1million to fund research into medicines to help those who follow in her footsteps - and donations are continuing to flood in.
Launching the Bowel Babe fund she told followers she is surrounded by her “incredible family” and “so much love”.The mum-of-two has always been candid about her cancer battle and also about her family life and often shares pictures on Instagram with her family. She is married to husband Sebastien Bowen and the couple share two children, Hugo, 14, and Eloise, 12. Sebastian is a banker in London and he and Deborah have been married since 2008.
To celebrate their 13th anniversary Deborah shared a sweet video of the pair dancing on Instagram and wrote: “13 Years of marriage. My Rock. It was our wedding anniversary earlier this week.
Some days the weight of what that means in an uncertain future can be too much. “Then it’s the closing of [a] new day. A new day you are grateful to see.
A new day you didn’t think you’d feel well in. And you dance. As your lids laugh and film.
"The sun sets, and you realise how wonderful it is to reach another milestone (and you park the sadness). And you smile. And you are at one in the moment only.
