EXCLUSIVE: Gravitas Ventures has acquired U.S. rights to the musical crime drama The Score, starring Will Poulter (Dopesick), Johnny Flynn (The Outfit), Naomi Ackie (Master of None) and Lydia Wilson (Flack). The Anthem Sports & Entertainment Company plans to release the feature directorial debut of writer-director Malachi Smyth exclusively in theaters on June 3rd, with a release on VOD to follow on June 10th.

Naman Ramachandran London-based documentary specialists Dogwoof and Danish production company Elk Film have revealed a commercial partnership to develop and produce documentary projects. The deal will involve a project slate of eight to 10 feature documentaries and documentary series where Dogwoof, Elk Film and the Danish Growth Fund Vaekstfonden will co-fund development. This will be The Danish Growth Fund’s first venture into documentary film development and production.

Gene Maddaus Senior Media WriterThe Directors Guild of America has raised concerns about safety issues on a new film from the production company behind “Rust,” the project that was halted after a fatal shooting last fall.The guild determined that “Oak” — now shooting in Thomasville, Ga. — failed to meet its safety standards. The DGA issued a statement that did not specify the reasons behind its decision.

Citing safety concerns, the DGA has ordered its members to stop working on Oak, a low-budget film that’s been shooting in Georgia.
