Gary Neville has expressed his surprise at Bruno Fernandes' Manchester United extension but feels the decision may have been sparked after consultation with the next Reds boss.

"I was surprised by the fact that they've done it without consulting a new manager - maybe they have consulted the new manager," Neville said. "But he's been outstanding since he arrived."
Fernandes, who single-handedly fired Portugal to the World Cup finals with his brace earlier in the week, led the line for Ralf Rangnick 's side after international teammate Cristiano Ronaldo missed out through illness.
