England manager Gareth Southgate has suggested that Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham could benefit from joining a Premier League club, amid links with a move to Manchester United.
The central-midfielder, who is considered as one of the most exciting youngsters in world football, joined Dortmund from Championship side Birmingham City in July 2020 for an initial fee of £25million. The German heavyweights beat a plethora of big-name European clubs to his signature, including United.
Bellingham visited United's Carrington training base in March 2020 and met with Sir Alex Ferguson, as the Old Trafford club looked to try and win the race for his signature. However, the midfielder, who was only 16 at the time, felt a move to Dortmund would be the correct next step to aid his development.

He has made sufficient progress in his first two seasons in Germany, scoring 10 goals and grabbing 17 assists in 83 appearances in all competitions. Therefore, it is no surprise why links with United, plus the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool, have re-emerged.
Now, England chief Southgate, who is a huge fan of the 18-year-old, has hinted that he would benefit from returning to England and joining a Premier League club. He has praised Dortmund for the way he has developed under their watch, but believes a return to his homeland could take his game to the next level.
Southgate said: "The league is definitely a brilliant league for young players and coaches to develop but of course the standard of the Premier League is undoubtedly higher, I think we see that in the European competitions.
