A police pursuit ended with four people in hospital following a crash in south Manchester at 4am.
Two of the casualties were seriously hurt.
The police watchdog has now launched an independent investigation into the incident.
A police dog handler in a van is believed to have been involved in a pursuit before the crash happened at the junction of Yew Tree Road and Mauldeth Road West in Withington
