Fears over 'vape tongue' as government gears up to ban disposable vapes

A warning over the potential health effects from vaping has been issued.
While they are commonly advertised a less risky alternative to cigarettes, that doesn't mean they are completely safe. Disposable vapes, which have seen a recent surge in popularity, contain nicotine and other ingredients that can be addictive.
However, the government is now looking to ban disposable devices over fears that it is encouraging children to become addicted to nicotine. Concerns over the devices' effect on the environment have also been raised due to the plastic material they are commonly made out of, the Mirror reports.

While it is not yet clear what the long-term effects of vaping are, one dentist has warned it can result in 'vaping tongue'. Dr Stewart Beggs, a cosmetic and restorative dentist working in London, explained on TikTok the signs of this worrying phenomenon.
He captioned the clip: "Do you vape? You might have vaper's tongue."
In the video, the expert explained: "Vape tongue is when you start to lose your taste because you've been vaping so much, and this is really on the rise because of the popularity of these disposable vapes which have all these ridiculous flavours."

Symptoms of 'vaper's tongue' include a numb tongue, failure to taste your vape flavour or even experiencing an unpleasant taste from your vape. It can even lead to you being unable to taste your food properly.
According to Fisher Pointe Dental: "Vaping can also cause a stuffy nose and negatively impact your ability to smell, and being able to smell goes hand in hand with your ability
