Selena Kuznikov Netflix has released the teaser trailer for the fourth and final season of its superhero series “The Umbrella Academy.” The footage, set to the tune of Europe’s 1986 song “The Final Countdown,” sees the Hargreeves siblings stepping out of their regular lives, prepping to band together one last time. Based on the graphic novel series written by Gerard Way and illustrated by Gabriel Bá, the beloved series follows a family of adopted siblings with superpowers working to prevent the end of the world. This season, the Hargreeves are confronted with a new trial: living a normal life.

Among them are several K-pop idols, including Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon, former IZ*ONE member Kwon Eun-bi and Yook Sung-jae of boyband BtoB.Joining them on the Netflix series are music producer Code Kunst, rapper Defconn, comedian Je Se-ho, South Korean civil servant Kim Seon-tae and American celebrity chef Andre Rush.

Comic book universes can venture far from their core storylines in a bid to attract more viewers (*cough* Marvel) despite producing content that grows increasingly less relevant.  Creators expect an audience to continually binge on the newest adaptation or sequel to get the slightest morsel of a new character or narrative twist that may or may not ever materialize later on. Thankfully “The Boys” showrunner Eric Kripke is well aware of that when talking about the upcoming season of the hit series.
