Homeowners are being warned to prepare their properties for winter as temperatures are set to plummet across the UK. The Met Office has warned of a mounting chance of 'wintry hazards' next week as temperatures remain colder than average.
Parts of the UK have already seen snow falling overnight as the mercury fell below 1C, and next week, there could be more snow showers to come with the right 'ingredients' on the way, according to the forecaster. Following the freezing weather warnings, Tesco Bank is now urging homeowners to 'winter proof' their homes to prevent costly water damage.
The latest internal data found that Tesco Bank received 1,018 escape of water claims in total during winter 2022-2023, with the average cost of a claim amounting to over £5,000. Dave Thompson, Claims Director at Tesco Bank, said: “Water damage to properties can cause significant issues for homeowners, in addition to being expensive and time consuming to fix.
