The NHS has begun the process of administrating the fourth Covid-19 vaccination.This morning at 7am some people were able to book the fourth jab, but who is eligible and what is the reasoning behind it? Who will have the fourth Covid-19 vaccination? Currently people aged over 12+ with weakened immune systems, care home residents and anyone aged 75 and over are being offered the spring booster jab. Eventually, five million people will be offered the chance to get the fourth vaccine, with the first 600,000 being called up this week.
Why do we need it? A large portion of the population (73%) are fully vaccinated, so you may wonder what the need is for a fourth jab. Health Secretary Sajid Javid has explained the reasoning behind the decision.

"Sadly, we are still seeing large numbers of people seriously unwell in hospital with Covid so it remains vital that those most at risk come forward when they are invited to do so."
