A chef at an Indian restaurant in Didsbury and a restaurant in Tameside are among those recognised at this year’s National Curry Awards.
The annual awards, which launched back in 2019, recognise Asian restaurants up and down the country alongside the talented chefs within the industry. Across 17 different awards, chefs, managers, takeaways and curry houses have all been recognised.
Arun Kumar at The Original Third Eye Restaurant on Wilmslow Road in Didsbury has been named Chef of the Year in Manchester. The Indian and Nepalese restaurant, which has been a mainstay of Didsbury Village for 23 years, is frequented by the likes of Take That star Jason Orange and even Hollywood actor Ryan Gosling.

Described as serving ‘humble food with remarkable pedigree’ by the M.E.N, the restaurant also recently also took home the Best of Manchester award at the 2023 English Curry Awards.
Meanwhile, Paprika Takeaway on Talbot Road in Hyde was named Takeaway of the year - Cheshire. As well as kebabs, they also serve specialty dishes like tikka masala, biryani, and bhuna.
Slightly further afield, Ashadul Haque at Ruchi Indian Restaurant in Glossop has been named Chef of the year for Glossop. Other chefs recognised were Asif Iqbal at Manjal Restaurant Group in London and Brian Mohan Miah at Cafe Spice Restaurant in Darlington.
