EXCLUSIVE: Danny Huston (The Dead Don’t Hurt) has signed on to star alongside Liam Neeson, Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter Hauser and Kevin Durand in the untitled Naked Gun reboot from Paramount Pictures.
Details as to the film’s plot, as well as Huston’s role in it, are under wraps. But Neeson will play Detective Frank Drebin, as previously announced, with Hauser as his partner Ed. It’s not yet clear who Anderson will be playing, though it’s understood that Durand will be taking on one of the film’s villain roles.
Akiva Schaffer is directing and exec producing the comedy, slated for release on July 18, 2025. Dan Gregor and Doug Mand wrote the draft script along with Schaffer. Seth MacFarlane and Erica Huggins are producing via Fuzzy Door, with Daniel M. Stillman also serving as EP.
Known for their absurd scenarios and slapstick humor, past Naked Gun films centered on the misadventures of Drebin, the clueless and bumbling police detective played by Leslie Nielsen, who also starred in Jim Abrahams, David Zucker and Jerry Zucker’s short-lived series Police Squad!. Grossing over $216M across three films, the film franchise launched with 1988’s The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!, with sequels The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear and Naked Gun 33⅓: The Final Insult following in 1991 and 1994, respectively.
Known for roles in films like Wonder Woman, 21 Grams and The Aviator, as well as series like Paramount+’s Yellowstone, Huston will next be seen in Viggo Mortensen’s Western The Dead Don’t Hurt, out via Shout! Studios on May 31st; Lionsgate’s The Crow, out August 23; and Kevin Costner’s Warner Bros Civil War epic Horizon: An American Saga, which unspools in two parts on June 28 and August 16.

Cillian Murphy has been confirmed as returning to the franchise that launched his career, in 2025’s 28 Years Later.News of the new film was first announced earlier this year, with confirmation that director Danny Boyle and writer Alex Garland, who helmed the 2002 original 28 Days Later, were both returning to the franchise.Earlier this month, the film was given the official release date of June 20, 2025. It had already been confirmed to star Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer, Ralph Fiennes and Jack O’Connell.And now Murphy, who had his breakout role in 28 Days Later, has been officially added to the cast.

Frank Grillo has been cast in Season 2 of James Gunn‘s popular DC series Peacemaker. Gunn announced the news Friday on Instagram, revealing Grillo will reprise the role of Rick Flag Sr. the character he voices in Gunn’s upcoming animated series Creature Commandos.

The Opening Ceremony of the Paris Olympics is Friday, July 26 on NBC, Peacock, and Telemundo.

Christmas has come early this year for Danny Dyer, who is already in festive mode to film an upcoming film in London.The former EastEnders star was spotted shooting new movie Christmas Karma with The Big Bang Theory's Kunal Nayyar on Thursday. Danny is set to play a London black cabbie in the festive flick, which has been written, directed and produced by Bend It Like Beckham's Gurinder Chadha.The film is modern Bollywood musical based on Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol. In new pictures, Danny - who's sporting a Christmas jumper, fetching cap and a gilet - can be seen chuckling along with Gurinder.
