It's been a difficult few weeks for Co-op Live. The £365m music venue, located at Eastlands next to the Etihad Stadium had been slated to open on April 23 with comedian Peter Kay taking to the stage, but its opening has been delayed several times due to 'technical issues' and ongoing building work.
A test event held at the landmark venue took place on April 20 featuring Rick Astley and Danny Jones from McFly, however following some power issues, bosses moved Peter Kay's opening shows. Shortly after, The Black Keys gig on Saturday, April 27 was also moved, and last Wednesday (May 1), it's third scheduled opening event with American rapper A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie was cancelled just minutes before he was set to perform.
Bosses at the Eastlands venue announced a further delay to its opening season - and offered 'sincere apologies' to all ticketholders. They said they would take a 'short pause' to 'fully ensure the safety and security of fans' after a piece of air conditioning unit fell from the ceiling before Wednesday's opening night show.

Not long after the A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie's concert was cancelled as hundreds of fans waited inside and outside the venue, the venue confirmed Friday and Saturday’s gigs with pop star Olivia Rodrigo would also be cancelled. And on Friday morning, Take That's epic run of shows were also relocated to the AO Arena.
Over the course of the past two weeks, ticketholders have raised concerns about money they had spent on hotels and travel, while others complained about being swapped into 'far worse' seats for the Take That gigs as the shows moved venues.
