Cannes Marché Sets “Pre-Cannes Screenings” Dates For May 25-28

EXCLUSIVE: In a smart move that aligns business closer to this year’s Cannes Film Festival, leading international sellers and major agencies have agreed among themselves to stage their virtual sales market between June 21-25, the same dates which the Cannes Marché today announced it is moving its pre-screenings event.

Cannes has moved its virtual screenings from May to June 21-25 following a survey of buyers and sellers. The change of dates will also allow the virtual event, dedicated to screenings of completed films that are not aimed at festivals, to run alongside the online pre-sales market that agencies are putting together, mainly for English-language packages.

In a welcome move to avoid Cannes events in three separate months this summer, the Cannes Marché is scrapping its ‘pre-Cannes screenings’ in May in favor of a June 21-25 event.
