The 46th annual BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival takes over the NYC borough's Prospect Park this summer, and today the lineup has been announced. From June 8-August 24, acts like Meshell Ndegeocello, Seun Kuti & Egypt 80, Charlotte Adigéry & Bolis Pupul, Sinkane, The Halluci Nation, Black Belt Eagle Scout, and many more will perform free shows at the Lena Horne Bandshell.
Other notable events include the Habibi Festival, a celebration of music from the South West Asia North Africa (SWANA) region, and Wordless music Orchestra's performance of Arthur Russell's 1983 album Tower of Meaning. In a press statement, Executive Director of BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn!, Saidah Blount expanded on the festival's theme of "Raised By Brooklyn." “I am absolutely thrilled to share this vibrant and diverse festival lineup that embraces our ‘Raised By Brooklyn’ theme.
This season's array of musical genres and cultural moments represents the best of this vibrant borough! Across 10 weeks, you'll hear music from the Caribbean diaspora, global rock and dance beats, as well as hometown heroes presenting orchestral works, powerful dance performances, and one of the most acclaimed films ever from a Brooklyn-born director.
