This week Shapiro is launching her very first skin care product, a process that has come with its own distinct challenges. “In fragrance, it's very hard to describe when you're working with a master perfumer exactly what you want,” she tells Glamour. “Half the time you're talking about vocabulary of sense, and you're not even going out and trying new modifications yet. You're really just talking about what ‘sexy’ means.
Whereas with skin care, it's very specific.” Shapiro knew what she wanted to make after years of searching for the perfect moisturizer. After two years of formulation, she finally settled on the , a marriage of her two passions: skin care and fragrance. “I hear about these sensitive-skin care products out there that are always fragrance-free, and the question is: Why?” she says.
“It's because of allergens. So if you're able to do an allergen-free scent and still have it be this lovely experience, why wouldn't you? Those were all the aspects I was really considering when I was formulating the skin cream. I wanted it to be satisfying, I wanted it to be pleasurable, and then I want the clinicals to work.
