Since first arriving on our screens last Summer, it’s safe to say that George Knight hasn’t had the easiest time of it in Walford. In the nine months since his debut, George has been confronted with his ex-wife Rose, discovered her real name was actually Cindy Beale and that she had been living under a false identity in a witness protection program! He also discovered that his adoptive parents had paid to adopt him as part of a process calling ‘farming’ which saw children advertised for money for parents looking to give children a home.
In a further harrowing blow, it later emerged that his adoptive father Eddie was a notorious racist and had actually murdered George’s birth father! To make matters worse, while Eddie was appearing in court for his crime, George’s adoptive mother Gloria tragically passed away, with the mean-spirited father even denying his son the right to attend her funeral. Yet now, as the father of three continues to juggle with his own grief, George is set to experience yet another devastating blow in the coming days as he is diagnosed with a brain condition that may cost him his life.
In upcoming scenes, George is left distraught when his daughters Gina and Anna break the news that Eddie held Gloria’s funeral without even telling him, denying him the final opportunity to say goodbye to his mother. While struggling with his grief, George will once again turn to his sporting love of boxing as he takes to the ring to try and fight out his emotions rather than confronting them head on.

They have often not travelled in the direction I would have hoped or wished for, instead following their own confounding paths (damn them!) to their own truths.“In the course of this I have sometimes been discomforted by things they have done, disagreed with things they have said, or not liked a particular record they have made.
