BBC Countryfile's Adam Henson suffered heartbreak over 'struggle' on devastating wedding day

Countryfile's Adam Henson was back on screens hosting a special lambing season episode on BBC One at the weekend, giving viewers an intimate look at life on his Cotswolds farm.
The 58-year-old presenter was seen assisting with the birth of lambs and checking in on his other animals, including Highland calves, Gloucester old spot piglets, and a new Exmoor pony foal.
Fans of the show also watched a nostalgic journey as Adam delved into the Countryfile archives to revisit past lambing seasons.
Off-screen, however, Adam has faced personal challenges. He married his partner Charlie in secret during the Covid-19 pandemic due to her heartbreaking health diagnosis.
Charlie was diagnosed with stage one pancreatic cancer over Christmas 2020, and doctors informed her that her survival chances were "very low" without major surgery, reports the Express.
In an interview with the Telegraph, Charlie shared the grim details of her diagnosis: "I was told the scan showed a 4.5cm growth on my pancreas, located in a difficult position and it was very serious," she said.
She knew the odds were against her, stating, "I knew that this type of cancer had a very low survival rate just five per cent."
In the same interview, Adam added: "Yes, we were told, it is cancer, but there is a possibility it could be a rare, slow-growing type a neuroendocrine tumour, which in some cases may be treatable."
The couple were devastated to learn that only two percent of cases are neuroendocrine, and even with treatment, the tumour's size and position posed significant challenges. Adam said: "There was a distinct possibility all they could do was offer palliative care."
