Glen Powell has revealed that Tom Cruise once pranked him by pretending to lose control of the helicopter they were riding.The 35-year-old actor was recently interviewed by GQ Magazine, where he shared how he and Cruise had become good friends during the filming of Top Gun: Maverick and recalled an incident when Cruise was piloting a helicopter to return to London after reshoots at Pinewood Studios.“Tom goes, ‘Oh no, oh no,’ and he starts dropping the helicopter over London,” Powell recalled, with the GQ writer noting that this is Tom Cruise’s idea of a joke. “I was like, ‘Am I about to be the unnamed guy that dies with Tom in a smoking hole in the middle of London?’”Despite briefly fearing for his life, Powell had been in awe of Cruise during the film’s production, adding that Cruise owns a helicopter and flies “actual jets”.

Previously, Glen Powell has made it clear he is not interested in Marvel films and superhero films, in general. However, if you’re looking for a Batman, perhaps someone can convince him.

Glen Powell has revealed that he “puked in the bushes” after his first viewing of Hidden Figures because he thought he’d “ruined” the film.The US actor played real-life astronaut and former US senator John Glenn in Theodore Melfi’s Oscar-nominated film about the three African-American mathematicians – played by Octavia Spencer, Taraji P Henson and Janelle Monáe – who were pivotal in his historic launch into space back in 1962.Speaking on a recent episode of Therapuss with Jake Shane, the actor admitted that he had seen Top Gun: Maverick, in which he played pilot Hangman, four times.When host Shane reacted with surprise that the star was able to watch his performances back, Powell responded that “it does get in your own head”, adding: “People forget that when you’re watching a rough cut of a movie, it’s probably like watching the footage of yourself that you’re having to edit. So you sit there and you’re like, ‘I hate myself.’”The Anyone But You star then recalled his experience seeing the first cut of the 2016 film.

The 2024 Cannes Film Festival may be winding down, but the Cannes market is still heating up.  IndieWire reports that Netflix currently has the splashiest deals of this week so far, with the streamer picking up the US and UK rights for Jacques Audriard‘s Palme d’Or favorite, “Emilia Pérez.”  And that’s not the only thing Netflix snagged today. The streaming giant also acquired John Lee Hancock‘s legal thriller “Monsanto,” which has Glen Powell, Laura Dern, and Anthony Mackie attached to star.

Hit Man.Directed by Richard Linklater (Dazed And Confused, Boyhood), the film follows college professor Gary Johnson (Powell) who stumbles into the role of posing undercover as a hitman, only to fall in love with one of his potential clients.Other cast members in the film include Adria Arjona, Austin Amelio, Retta, Sanjay Rao, Evan Holtzman and Molly Bernard.After a short run in cinemas from May 24, Hit Man will be released on Netflix on June 7, 2024.Graham Reynolds composed the film’s soundtrack, who has collaborated with director Richard Linklater on many of his previous projects, including A Scanner Darkly, Bernie, Up To Speed and Before Midnight.The film also features various tracks by artists who originate from New Orleans, ranging from jazz pioneer Jelly Roll Morton to contemporary acts like Rob49.Speaking about the soundtrack, the film’s music supervisor, Randall Poster, said: “The music in this film was born out of New Orleans and has that spirit of letting the good times roll.“That’s sort of a signature of the songs, and if you look at some of the New Orleans jargon, romance is generally complicated and sometimes duplicitous and sometimes aggravating and sometimes tragic. Netflix has acquired the legal drama “Monsanto,” a buzzy package from this year’s Cannes Film Festival. John Lee Hancock (“The Blind Side,” “Saving Mr. Banks”) directed the movie, which stars Glen Powell, Anthony Mackie and Laura Dern.

Matt Donnelly Senior Film Writer Glen Powell, Bad Robot and Imax have released a theatrical trailer in support of The Blue Angels Foundation, a non-profit created by former Blue Angels pilots that funds critical services for wounded veterans and their families. The trailer will run nationwide in anticipation of the Imax original documentary “The Blue Angels,” which starts its Imax exclusive run May 17. Opening with an introduction from Powell, the trailer goes inside the Warrior Foundation Freedom Station 1 in San Diego, Calif., a housing and support facility for those receiving care from The Blue Angels Foundation.
