’77 Blackout’: Mahershala Ali & Tom Hardy To Star In Cary Fukunaga’s Crime Thriller

To celebrate Thursday’s season 20 finale of Grey’s Anatomy, Chris Carmack (Dr. Atticus “Link” Lincoln) provided a remake of I’m Just Ken, the Oscar-nominated song from Greta Gerwig’s 2023 Barbie blockbuster.

Another bit of casting news this AM, which sees buzzy actor Barry Keoghan ready to join one of Amazon MGM‘s equally buzzy upcoming projects.  Deadline reports that the “Saltburn” actor is in talks to join Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo for “Crime 101,” Bart Layton‘s adaptation of Don Winslow‘s 2021 crime novella.

An Academy Award winner might be joining the ranks of the “Jurassic World” franchise. According to various trade reports, two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali (who won Academy prizes for “Moonlight” and “Green Book”) is in talks to join the untitled “Jurassic World” film due in the summer of 2025.

The feature is to be launched at Cannes by the Match Factory, which will represent worldwide sales outside of North America. CAA Media Finance will represent North American rights.

Mad Max director George Miller has opened up about Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron’s on-set feud during the filming of Mad Max: Fury Road.In a new interview with The Telegraph, Miller opened up about the notorious feud that broke out between the pair saying that at the heart of it, “they were just two very different performers.”He explained: “Tom has a damage to him but also a brilliance that comes with it, and whatever was going on with him at the time, he had to be coaxed out of his trailer…Whereas Charlize was incredibly disciplined – a dancer by training, which told in the precision of her performance – and always the first one on set.”He continued: “I’m an optimist, so I saw their behavior as mirroring their characters, where they had to learn to co-operate in order to ensure mutual survival. There’s no excuse for it, and I think there’s a tendency in this business to use great performances as an excuse for other disruption that could be avoided.”In the Mad Max: Fury Road oral history book, Blood, Sweat & Chrome, Theron said her relationship on set with hardy “was like two parents in the front of the car.

Apparently, it’s really difficult to shoot a ‘Mad Max’ film. Anna Marie de la Fuente Argentina’s EO Media, led by CEO Ezequiel Olzanski, has teamed up with Nicolas Aznarez’s Uruguay-based El Camino Films (“Blindness”) to co-produce murder mystery “Punta Blanca” (a working title) with a stellar cast led by Natalia Oreiro, star of Disney’s “Santa Evita” and Prime Video’s “Iosi, the Regretful Spy.” The six-episode limited series is created by up-and-coming writer-producer Joaquin Romero Vercellino and penned by writers behind the hit Argentine series streaming on Netflix, “El Marginal”: Silvina Olschansky and Guillermo Salmerón, as well as Alejandro Aimetta (“Maradona: Blessed Dream”). EO Media will also handle international sales.
