Thania Garcia New Orleans bounce artist Big Freedia has announced a new album — her first full-length effort since 2014’s “Just Be Free” — “Central City” will arrive on June 23. The set includes features from Lil Wayne, Faith Evans, Kelly Price, Sonyae and more. Previously released singles “Central City Freestyle” and “$100 Bill,” featuring Ciara, appear as part of the 16-song tracklist while the album’s third single, a booming club track titled “Bigfoot,” was released today. “Call me Bigfoot stepping on these bitches necks,” Freedia’s inimitable vocals proclaim as the jolting basslines of “Bigfoot” guide her delivery. “I got a big foot but I’m getting bigger checks/They don’t see what’s coming next.”

The Foo Fighters had a literal motley crew of cameos in their livestream, "Foo Fighters: Preparing Music for Concerts," before announcing a new addition to the band: drummer Josh Freese. In the wake of the tragic passing of Taylor Hawkins last March, the band enlisted the help of other famous drummers, including Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith, Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee and Tool’s Danny Carey, to tease the ultimate arrival of Freese. Each musician was welcomed into the studio by the band, only to deliver a funny remark like, "There's a white Mercedes blocking me," "I got the P.F. Chang's" and "I groomed your poodles for you." With multiple interruptions, an agitated voice off camera can be heard yelling, "Excuse me," before cutting to Freese behind the drums.
Naman Ramachandran “RuPaul’s Drag Race” producer World of Wonder has revealed a trailer for “Big Freedia Means Business,” an eight-part docu-series that follows “Queen of Bounce” Big Freedia. A subgroup of 1980s hip-hop music, Bounce music has defined much of contemporary hip-hop culture. The series follows New Orleans choirboy-turned-Bounce rapper Freddie “Big Freedia” Ross, Jr., as she juggles new business ventures, touring, and the ups and downs of her personal relationships. This season Freedia begins work on opening a hotel; starts a cannabis line; and prepares to launch her own beauty and fragrance lines. The series will also chronicle the launch of a new album, set to drop later this year.

Thania Garcia The Foo Fighters are gearing up for a bustling touring season — their first without drummer Taylor Hawkins, who died tragically in Colombia last year — that kicks off with a date in New Hampshire in the coming week. Taking on the challenge of filling Hawkins’ role, as Variety tipped back in January, will be Josh Freese. Although the name might not seem entirely familiar at first glance, it’s more than likely you’ve either heard and even own a record that has him listed in the credits. Freese joins the group after having played alongside a star-studded lineup for the Hawkins tribute concerts that the Foos put together in London and Los Angeles last fall. He’s also a longtime friend of both Grohl and Hawkins and is a seasoned session act who has performed and toured with rock bands Guns N’ Roses, A Perfect Circle, Puddle of Mudd, Nine Inch Nails, Weezer, Paramore, the Replacements, Sting and the Vandals, to name a few. Freese was most recently drumming for Danny Elfman and the Offspring, with whom he was touring up until last year.

Thania Garcia The Foo Fighters are looking at a long touring season that kicks off at the end of this month at the Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion on May 24 and continues through a series of festival dates until November. The group fronted by Dave Grohl has top-billing for all of their festival appearances, including their first at the Boston Calling Music Festival on May 26, and their newly announced stint for Chicago’s Riot Fest taking place on Sept. 15-17. This is the first time the band will perform a consistent lineup of shows since Taylor Hawkins’ death in March of last year. And while fans await the band’s return to stages, the speculation surrounding prospective drummers is whittling down to very few viable options.
