Earlier this year, comic book writer/artist and filmmaker Dash Shaw presented his latest animated film, “Cryptozoo” at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival to much acclaim. Shaw was primarily known for his inventive comic book work but then quickly moved into animated filmmaking with “My Entire High School Sinking Into the Sea,” which was critically acclaimed and had its world premiere at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival.

Annapurna acquired out of the festival this year for $2 million and will be released in partnership with MGM’s Orion Pictures. Parker also spent three years at CAA in the motion picture talent and non-fiction departments.

Magnolia Pictures has acquired the Sundance Film Festival entry “Cryptozoo,” multiple Individuals familiar with the sale told Variety.The animated fantasy was written and directed by Dash Shaw (“My Entire High School Sinking Into the Sea”) and boasts a voice cast featuring Lake Bell, Michael Cera, Angeliki Papoulia and Zoe Kazan.
