Ty Pennington is on the mend and feeling “great” after being rushed to the hospital to undergo emergency surgery in July 2023. “I’m great,” Pennington, 59, told “Entertainment Tonight” on Monday, while promoting his new HGTV show “Rock the Block.” “You know what’s great is if you almost die, you get so much attention. It feels so nice to be that loved.”“I’m planning another one… No, I’m kidding,” the reality show host joked.

Design expert Ty Pennington was taken to the emergency room earlier this week due to a major health scare.  Pennington, 58, took to Instagram Friday to detail his hospitalization and included photos of him intubated.  "From the red carpet, to the ICU… this last week has been interesting!" he began his social media post.  The "Trading Places" star explained that a few days after he attended the "Barbie" premiere, he "woke up at 4am and could barely breathe." "Turns out, that sore throat I’ve had for the last month was actually an abscess which had grown so large it was closing off my airway. Next thing I know, I was intubated and flown to the ICU in Denver." The HGTV host continued to say he had surgery Wednesday and was released from the Intensive Care Unit, Thursday afternoon.

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is coming back!

Joe Otterson TV Reporter ABC is developing a new version of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.” Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin, best known as the co-founders of the lifestyle brand The Home Edit, will serve as hosts of the new version of the show should it move forward. The show currently has the same title as the original, but that is a working title at this time. As with the original show, each episode will see the hosts meet a family that needs a new home or major renovations to their current home. The hosts will then work with a team of builders, designers, and contractors to reshape the house to the family’s needs.

HGTV is moving head with its competition series Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge, a project that was originally set to star Stephen “tWitch” Boss and his wife Allison Holker before the dancer/deejay died in December.

Pictures film. “Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge” will feature eight teams of HGTV superstars (and one Food Network star) as they transform a Southern California home into a real-life Barbie Dreamhouse, as supermodel Graham — who has her own Barbie modeled after her and will be driving a Barbie pink corvette on the show — hosts. The teams will overhaul areas of the home with an era-specific style, such as an early 1960s atomic age kitchen, a ‘70s disco vibe for Ken’s Den and a main bedroom decked out in ‘80s glam.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, Pennington explained that it was "a ballsy move when it's the greatest job you've ever had." "I was on the road so much, I started losing the clients I had, and so I could really only just work on the house I lived in, which means I was losing the income I was making," Pennington, who was the carpenter on half the "Trading Spaces" shows at the time, said.  "So, I was hit with sort of a tough decision. I tried to get a raise and that wasn't going to happen." He continued, "There was a moment that I screamed like all night because I realized I'd made a mistake, but I got lucky and it paid off.
