Nancy Russell Nancy Russell worked in the music industry in Nashville for decades and was the manager to stars including Alan Jackson, Trisha Yearwood and — at the time of her Grammy-winning early 2000s comeback with “Van Lear Rose” — the late, great Loretta Lynn. Russell now lives in Southern California, consulting on independent music projects while focusing on screenwriting. She shared her memories of Lynn with Variety. The first time I saw Loretta Lynn in person was at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in 1986, about a year before I moved to Nashville. Dressed in bright turquoise spandex and a white blouse, she sang her hits with warmth and spirit, committing to every single member of that audience. Never could I imagine that 15 years later I’d have the privilege to be her manager.

The singer will get the honor for her philanthropic work, which extends across many charities but most visibly includes two decades of involvement with Habitat for Humanity, which she’s long supported alongside husband Garth Brooks.

Garth Brooks said this week that he declined Trisha Yearwood’s offer last year to officially take his name.  "She was sweet enough for our anniversary last year to have the documents where her official last name was Brooks," Brooks said of his wife of 17 years during a press conference for his TuneIn radio partnership, Taste of Country reported Thursday.  He added, "I declined it." Garth Brooks admitted he once accidentally showered with Aerosmith's Steven Tyler. Brooks, 61, shared the moment during an appearance on "The Kelly Clarkson Show." "I showered with him," Brooks told Clarkson while the two were discussing Aerosmith.  The country music star and Tyler both performed at a Billy Joel concert in July 2008. "We were playing the ‘Last Play at Shea’(with) Billy Joel.They're getting ready to tear down Shea Stadium in New York, and I go out there, and I'm late anyway, and they just have the baseball showers," he recalled.
