Trevor Noah is nearing his last laugh on “The Daily Show.” The comedian, who came out of near anonymity to take over the program from Jon Stewart in 2015, plans to exit the flagship Comedy Central series after a seven-year tenure that saw him transform it for a new generation of viewers who are more at home on social media than they are cable outlets and broadcast networks. Noah revealed his plans to an audience at Thursday evening’s taping of the program in New York, according to two people familiar with the matter. It was not immediately clear when his actual exit would take place, or whether the Paramount Global cable network had begun to consider a successor. Jill Fritzo, a representative for Noah, could not be reached for immediate comment.

Joe Otterson TV Reporter Samantha Bee and Kristen Everman’s Swimsuit Competition production company is partnering with Sinking Ship Entertainment to produce a sketch comedy series for kids, Variety has learned exclusively. Titled “Best Day Ever,” the single-camera show is described as having a style similar to more adult-themed sketch shows like “I Think You Should Leave” and “Key and Peele,” but featuring adults only in supporting roles. The show hails from producer, director, and writer Allana Harkin. The project will be taken out at MIPCOM 2022. “Eleven year old Samantha Bee just blushed so hard she fell off her banana seat bike,” said Bee. “Also, she would have killed for a show like this.”

The event, which takes place Wednesday, November 9 at The Plaza Hotel, will honor WNYC’s “On the Media” host and managing editor Brooke Gladstone. The evening will also include a musical performance from Kronos Quartet. NYPR’s annual gala is its largest fundraising event of the year, celebrating the vital work produced across New York Public Radio. Also in today’s television news: Adult Swim animated series “YOLO: Silver Destiny” has set a premiere date of Sunday, January 15 at midnight ET on the network, with streaming availability following the next day on HBO Max. The new season is set to have a two-episode premiere, with new episodes premiering weekly after.

Kimmel announced on Tuesday that he would continue his run as host of ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” through the show’s 23rd season, extending his contract — which was set to expire in the next year. Kimmel has fronted “Jimmy Kimmel Live” as host and executive producer since 2003. “After two decades at ABC, I am now looking forward to three years of what they call ‘quiet quitting,’” he quipped in a statement.News comes as Kimmel prepares to return to Brooklyn next week for the show’s sixth visit to the borough. This marks the first time “Jimmy Kimmel Live” has been back in New York since 2019 (before the COVID-19 pandemic put such trips to a halt, of course). The late night talk show will once again tape in front of a live studio audience at the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s Howard Gilman Opera House.

The short was nominated against “Between The Scenes – The Daily Show,” “RuPaul’s Drag Race Whatcha Packin’ With Michelle Visage,” “Saturday Night Live Presents: Stories From The Show” and “Top Chef: Last Chance Kitchen.” On stage, executive producer Allana Harkin and producer Caroline Dunphy joked that they already felt like winners when Ted Cruz celebrated the cancellation of the TBS show. BreAnna Bell HBO is jumping into production on the upcoming “BS High” documentary. Travon Free and Martin Desmond Roe (“Two Distant Strangers”) have been named to direct the film, which will debut on HBO and be available to stream on HBO Max in 2023. According to the documentary’s synopsis, the story follows the investigation that ensued after August 29, 2021, when the Bishop Sycamore Centurions, a presumed high school football team from Columbus, Ohio, took on perennial prep powerhouse IMG Academy. The nationally televised game ended in the Centurions 58-0 loss, causing fans and audiences to question the legitimacy of the Bishop Sycamore program and the activities of now-fired head coach Roy Johnson. However, the final score and a fired head coach turned out to be just the beginning of the story.

In a statement obtained by Fox News Digital, TBS announced that the show would not return for the fall season.  "’Full Frontal With Samantha Bee,’ will not return to TBS.  We are proud to have been the home to ‘Full Frontal With Samantha Bee’ and thank Sam, and the rest of the Emmy-nominated team for their groundbreaking work," TBS explained.

We’re so thankful for our loyal audience, our amazing team, and that we got to annoy the right people every week—that there wasn't wrestling or baseball or a very special episode of Big Bang,” the tweet said.  The message continued with an additional tweet, “To our loyal fans — we love you, you’re very special.
